Amazon today inaugurated its first owned building outside USA. The new Amazon campus is Amazon’s largest campus in the world in terms of area and is located in Hyderabad, India. The new Amazon Hyderabad campus contains over 2.5 times more steel than Eiffel Tower.
The new Amazon campus is made of 17000 metric tons of steel, 20000 cubic meters of concrete and is spread across more than 9.5 acres of land. The Amazon Hyderabad campus spans 1.8 million square feet of office space and will accommodate 15000 workers.
The Amazon Hyderabad campus meets stringent safety standards, with 110 km of fire protection system conduit. The Amazon Hyderabad campus features Inter faith prayer rooms, mother’s room, quiet rooms, unisex restrooms, showers, helipad and all day open cafeteria.
The Amazon Hyderabad campus consists of more than 300 trees dotting its ground with three specimen trees aged over 200 years and features 850,000 litre water recycling plant.
The foundation stone for the Amazon building was laid on March 30, 2016 by Amazon. The building was constructed within time span of 39 months and an average of 2000 workers worked on the site everyday.
